Helen Bommarito

About the Artist
Helen brings a well-rounded approach to her teaching of pottery. Her residencies
incorporate basic age appropriate techniques for working with clay and glazes.
Helen's residencies encourage students to develop manual dexterity, learn important principals of design and experiment with expressing themselves creatively through clay. Helen works closely with schools to also tie her residencies to particular areas of study.

 

Credentials:

Helen received her Bachelor of Arts from the University of Washington and completed a post-graduate study in Ceramics at the University of Texas. She has been a potter and photographer for over 25 years and has taught ceramics and art classes for children and adults in Central Oregon since 2005.

Helen is a member of the National Council on Education for the Ceramic Arts, the Oregon Potters Association, Clay Guild of the Cascades, Cindercone Clay Center, Raku Artists of Central Oregon and Folk Alliance International. Helen has also done additional work with NeighborImpact, Bend to co-organize a Pottery Olympics event as well as serve as an artist liason for Empty Bowls hunger relief project.
